Facebook users suffer viral surge

Facebook has been targeted by hackers looking to steal member’s data from the website. Security for the website says that it has been hit with 5 different security problems within the past 7 days. Security firms are now saying that social networking sites are tempting to hi-tech thieves and hackers.

Facebook has also been hit by the koobface virus along with other social networking website since December 2008. The koobface virus uses a face youtube pages to trick people.

Honda makes first hydrogen cars

The Japanese company Honda have started the first commercial production of hydrogen fuel cell cars. The hydrogen fuel cell car is a zero emission car. With a car being zero emissions this means that the car will be producing no pollution what so ever and by using hydrogen this mean that the fuel being used will never run out as hydrogen is the most common element in the known universe.

Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED)

Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) is a solid-state device composed of thin films of organic molecules that create light with the application of electricity. OLEDs can provide brighter, crisper displays on electronic devices and use less power than conventional light-emitting diodes (LEDs) or liquid crystal displays (LCDs) used today. OLED technology can be as thin as a piece of paper and also flexible which makes this technology remarkable.

PC sales face worst-ever slump

It has been predicted that there will be around a 12% slump in PC sales during 2009. If there is to be a decline in pc sales during 2009 then it will be only the second time that sales have dropped in this type of industry since 2002 when there was a slump of 3.2%.

This news follows the news that the semiconductor industry sales of computer chips between 2008 and 2009 fell by 35%. However it is said that the computer chip industry will weather the storm and bounce back faster than any other technology sector.

Website Design is biased to men

The University of Glamorgan in Wales did a study of 30 men and 30 women to find out what was appealing to each in the aspect of web design for a man’s website and a woman’s website.

There were 23 different factors that were considered within the judgement in the differences for what women and men both look for in a website those appeals to them, the 3 main factors for a website are language, visuals and navigation.

Why Google put another nail in Yahoos coffin

After the collapse of the deal with Microsoft trying to buy yahoo shares at $33 a share which have now fallen to around $14 a share, Yahoo and Google were creating a deal to increase there hold on internet advertising.

The deal fell through however only due to the fact that Google and Yahoo would have dominated the markets in both display advertising and paid search advertising. This made company watchdogs take note of what was going on and the US Department of Justice made it clear that it would do everything it could to stop the deal from going through.

YouTube sets online video record

Records show that December 08 was a record month for viewing streaming video online. During this time online videos were watched over 4 billion times with over 30 million people viewing them according to comScore the internet monitor, with youtube being the website that people used to view there videos as it was pulling almost 24 million unique viewers.

The over all figures for online video clips being viewed was up from December 07 by 13% with youtube being even more dominant than in 08.

Computational Knowledge Engine – CKE - Wolfram Alpha

The computational knowledge engine is a new type of search engine that will be able to answer questions directly. This will be a free program that is already being hailed as important as google.

The computational knowledge engine will be known as Wolfram Alpha named after its inventor. The objective of the technology is to make expert knowledge accessible to anyone anywhere at any time.

This search engine should be launched around May this year.

Man Flu is real

Women are always complaining that men pretend to suffer more when they have a cold or flu.

Well now it has been proven that men actually do suffer more when they come down with an illness as men have a lower immune system than women, which means that women are able to fight off disease better.

A Canadian study showed that it is the hormone oestrogen that women produce that helps to fight off viruses.

YouTube goes BlueTube

It was found that the video sharing website youtube had to remove hundreds of pornographic videos from there website.

The videos were uploaded using false names and they would mask the fact that they were a pornographic videos by putting a short video of children playing before the adult content started. Google the owner of youtube has said that it knows about the problem and is trying to address it.
